Cable, Glass & Aluminum Railing Installation

Cable, glass, Aluminum, Composite and Vinyl — all built to the 42-inch guard and 4-inch sphere rules where they apply.

Railing is a safety component before it is a design one. Guard height, infill spacing and load resistance are code items, and they are inspected.

Within those constraints there is real design range. Cable and glass buy back a view that a solid guard would take away, which matters on the hillside lots in Altadena, La Cañada and the north Glendale foothills.

Every estimate includes demolition and haul-away of the existing structure, and a written itemised price you can compare line by line against other bids.

What's different about how we do it

Details that decide whether it lasts

Built to guard code

Height and infill spacing to the applicable residential code, so it passes inspection the first time.

Cable tensioned correctly

Under-tensioned cable deflects and fails the sphere test. We tension to spec and re-check after settling.

Glass options

Tempered glass panels with a clean top rail or a frameless spigot detail.

Retrofit to existing decks

Most railing replacements don't require touching the deck surface.

Materials

Four lines, so the recommendation can follow the property

Vinyl, Aluminum, Composite and Wood. Each has a job it does better than the others — and one it does badly.

Compare materials

Vinyl

Privacy fencing, pool surrounds, anywhere you never want to paint again

Aluminum

Pool code enclosures, view-preserving perimeter, security with sightlines

Composite

Wood look with no staining cycle; decking and privacy fence

Wood

Budget-sensitive projects, historic overlays, matching an existing fence

LA Fence Craft designed and installed my new fence and gate. They did a beautiful job, cleaned up the job site and even spent time polishing the fence and gate. I couldn't recommend them more.

This is the second job I've had done by LA Fence Craft. From the detailed written estimate to the final clean up, they know how to get it done. I can't recommend them enough.

We hired LA Fence Craft to replace our old wooden fence. Very professional, excellent work, very clean. They even came on Sunday to make sure the job was done perfectly before our inspection.

Questions

Railings FAQs

More at our full FAQ.

How much does a new fence cost in the Los Angeles area?

Price is driven by three things: linear footage, material, and how much demolition and haul-away the old fence needs. Wood is the least expensive per foot and Vinyl and Aluminum sit above it, with Composite typically highest. Slope, hard digging in decomposed granite, and gates all add cost. We give a written, itemised price after measuring on site — not a per-foot guess over the phone.

Do I need a permit for a fence?

It depends on height and location on the lot, and the rules vary between cities and even between parcels. Rear and side yard fencing at standard residential height is often exempt, while taller fencing, street-facing fencing, and anything structural like a patio cover more often is not. Los Angeles also has designated Fence Height Districts that change what's allowed. We check your parcel before you sign.

How long does installation take?

A typical residential fence replacement is one to two days on site once materials are in. Custom gates, automation, patio covers and decks run longer. Lead time on materials is usually the bigger variable, and we give you a date range in writing with the estimate.

Do you handle the demolition of my old fence?

Yes. Removal, haul-away and disposal of the existing fence are included in the quote unless you tell us you want to keep it. There's no separate disposal charge added at the end.
